Assessing the effectiveness of orchestrated climate action from five years of summits

Since 2014 we have witnessed an unprecedented mobilization of climate initiatives with transnational actors. In a new Nature Climate Change piece we investigate their performance and opportunities to strengthen them.


Climate summits have launched many climate initiatives. But not every summit has been as effective at launching well-performing initiatives. Recent summits seem to perform worse. Has summit fatigue set in? Have low-hanging fruits been picked?


Five years of climate action and summitry have taught us valuable lessons. Orchestrators of climate action can positively influence performance by setting minimal requirements for credibility and robustness among the initiatives they engage.
